Library

Introduction

The library is formed by more than seventy six thousand volumes, specialized in the History of Mexico. In the first place, the institution maintains with great pride the vice regal collection, one of the richest of its nature: Mexican books and printed documents of the16th century,  American incunable, religious and civil chronicles, legislation, legal pleas, sermons, novenas, indulgences, biographies, and so on.

The other specialization of the library is conformed by nineteenth century books, starting with printed documents which date back to 1821, up to the period of the government of Porfirio Diaz. The collection of books of the 20th century starts to stand out due to some very rare works and is one of the priorities of our  Centro de Estudios.

Books that are over fifty years old that are considered by national and foreign libraries as rare books, stand out as the base and preference of the Center.

The newspaper library includes newspapers, journals and magazines from the 18th and 19th centuries. The first Mexican newspaper is available, up to recent publications.
